Dry, very dry and atopic dry skin

A large portion of the population suffers from dry skin, which can vary from mild to very severe.  Dry skin is especially common in children under 10 and older people over 60.  Between the ages of 10 and 60, many more women than men suffer from dry skin.  In most cases, a deficiency in natural moisturising factors (NMF’s), especially urea, causes the condition. In atopic dry skin, disturbed fatty acid metabolism plays a major role.
