Eucerin DermoPurifyer Oil Control Adjunctive Soothing Cream is a moisturiser suitable for acne-prone skin specially formulated for people undergoing medical acne treatment.

One of the side effects of acne medication is that it frequently causes severe dryness in skin. This intensely moisturising, non-greasy cream alleviates these side effects. Ceramides support the skin’s protective barrier and reduce moisture loss, SymSitive* helps to calm irritations such as stinging and burning directly at source and Licochalcone A helps to soothe irritations. The formula helps to bring demanding, blemish- and acne-prone skin under control and it feels smooth and supple after the first application.

Clinical and dermatological studies prove good skin tolerability and efficacy on blemish-prone skin. Suitable for sensitive skin. In a self-assessment study a sample of 58 men and women aged between 16 and 43 (average age 24) applied Eucerin DermoPurifyer Oil Control Adjunctive Soothing Cream twice a day for two weeks. At the time of the study, all respondents had been undergoing medical acne treatment (with topical Benzoyl Peroxide, topical Tretinoin, topical Adapalene or oral Isotretinoin) for at least two weeks. Instructions

Recommendations for your daily skincare routine

Cleanse and tone

Cleanse skin in the morning and evening:

am: to remove the sebum and dead skin cells that have accumulated overnight
pm: to remove make-up and free skin from the day’s dirt

Use gentle cleansing products such as Eucerin DermoPurifyer Oil Control Cleansing Gel with lukewarm water and follow with an appropriate toner. You may also benefit from using a scrub once a week to unclog pores and refine skin texture.

We do not recommend using an alcohol-based toner and the scrub alongside blemish-prone skin medication as it can make skin more sensitive. If you like the refreshing feel of a toner, try the alcohol-free Eucerin DermoPurifyer Oil Control Micellar Water instead.

Care

The care product you use depends on the severity of your blemishes and on the type of treatment you are undergoing.

If you are using medical treatment for blemished skin, Eucerin DermoPurifyer Oil Control Adjunctive Soothing Cream helps to alleviate some of the symptoms such as intense dryness. It should be applied five minutes after your medication so the treatment can absorb fully.

If you have mild to moderately blemished skin, but are not undergoing medical treatment, use a soothing and mattifying moisturiser such as Eucerin DermoPurifyer Oil Control Mattifying Fluid in the morning and evening.

For clearer and smoother-looking skin over time, you may also like to incorporate our skin renewal treatment into your routine. It is suitable for all blemish-prone skin that is not undergoing medical treatment for blemished skin and should be used once a day only − ideally in the evening. You can use it before the mattifying fluid or on its own.

Sun protection

Sun protection is an important step in your morning routine. Blemishes can cause pigmentation issues if over-exposed to the sun, and medications for blemished skin can make the skin even more sensitive to UV rays. Eucerin Sun Gel-Creme Oil Control Dry Touch SPF30 and SPF50+ offers the levels of protection that your skin needs and should be applied before your cover-up and make-up. If you’re applying sun protection after a topical blemish treatment wait five minutes to allow the treatment to fully absorb.

Concealer and make-up

Cover blemishes and even out skin tone with foundation and/or a concealer. Choose products that are non-comedogenic (i.e. that will not block pores) and, ideally, ones that contain ingredients that work to improve the condition of blemish-prone skin. Be sure to remove all make-up before you go to bed.

Yes. The product can be used on an ongoing basis even when you are not having medical treatment for blemished skin. If you have dry, blemish-prone skin it’s likely to be very suitable, but if your skin stops being so dry you may find it too rich and need a lighter product. If you used Adjunctive Hydrating Care in the past then you will be absolutely fine to use this new cream and we hope you’ll experience additional benefits. It is now free from Parabens and no longer contains an SPF. This means that this product is now also suitable for night time use. Skin is particularly sensitive to the sun when it is undergoing acne treatment so we recommend you apply additional sun protection in the morning. No, so you can use it in the evenings. I cover my acne with make-up. Am I making everything worse?

Best hydrating acne cream ever!

Since being a teenager, I’ve struggled with mild acne. In winter, the biggest struggle is the spots increase, and the skin dries out! I am on medication for my acne; pills and benzoyl peroxide 2.5% gel. However, this contributes to the skin dryness. Before I used Eucerin Dermopurifyer Adjunctive Soothing Care, I wouldn’t use the gel in winter- which resulted in less dry skin, but more spots (it was a win-lose situation). However, now I’ve used Eucerin Dermopurifyer Adjunctive Soothing Care cream, it’s a win-win situation!! The cream contradicts the dryness, leaving my skin smooth and silky, and reduces my spots! I have seen the reduction in spots and dryness in only a few days! Eucerin Dermopurifyer Adjunctive Soothing Care cream is a must by for those struggling with dry skin due to acne medication.
