During & After Dermatological TreatmentsIf you suffer from acne, your dermatologist may suggest a combination of treatment options. Many of these, such as chemical peels, microdermabrasion and retinoids, make your skin more sensitive to the sun. They do this by removing layers of skin cells and promoting cell turnover to avoid clogged pores. Your skin may get clearer, but it will definitely become more sun sensitive.
If you undergo a cosmetic procedure to fight the signs of aging, your skin will also become more sun sensitive. In addition to chemical peels and microdermabrasion, laser resurfacing also can cause permanent sun damage when skin is not properly protected. We recommend trying to avoid sun exposure one week before the treatment and six months after.
When undergoing dermatological treatments, we recommend using sun protection with a high SPF. |
