Eucerin UreaRepair PLUS 10% Urea Lotion

When the skin on our bodies has a stable barrier function, it protects us from external irritants and is able to maintain its optimal level of hydration. But when that barrier is impaired, skin can lose moisture and look and feel dry as a result.

Eucerin UreaRepair PLUS 10% Urea Lotion gives very dry, rough body skin the daily care it needs. It contains a unique combination of ingredients – Urea, Ceramide and other Natural Moisturising Factors (NMFs) – which bind moisture in and repair skin's natural protective barrier to prevent further moisture loss. The formula has been clinically and dermatologically proven to deliver immediate relief and intense, long-lasting moisturisation, delaying dryness and roughness for up to 48 hours. Skin is intensely moisturised and looks and feels smooth and supple again.

The lotion is suitable for mature skin and those with Diabetes, Psoriasis and Keratosis Pilaris. It can also be used as adjunctive care.

Urea

Urea is also produced naturally by the skin and is part of the essential Natural Moisturizing Factor (NMF) which regulates skin’s moisture content. Urea is hygroscopic, which means it is able to bind moisture into the outermost layer of skin, thus relieves itching and roughness, helping to fight dry skin symptoms. It is also keratolytic, meaning it improves natural exfoliation and soothes and smoothes the skin’s surface. As a substance produced naturally by the skin, Urea is well-tolerated even by dry and sensitive skin. Because all of these effects and very good study data, Urea is the gold standard in treating of dry skin.*

Natural Moisturizing Factors (NMF)

Healthy skin contains Natural Moisturizing Factors (NMFs) which attract and bind in water to the outermost layers of skin, helping to prevent it from drying out and becoming scaly and rough. The NMFs present in skin include substances such as amino acids, inorganic salts, Lactate and Urea. The UreaRepair PLUS range replicates the natural composition of NMFs in healthy skin, giving dry skin the substances it needs for optimal hydration.

Ceramide 3

Ceramides are important lipids in the hydrolipid film (which protects the external layers of skin). Produced naturally in healthy skin, they strengthen the skin barrier, helping to prevent moisture loss due to evaporation and keeping out irritants that can cause inflammation and itching. When skin’s Ceramide levels fall the skin barrier is impaired. Skin can start to lose water and become dry and irritated.

Why do I need a special moisturiser for very dry, rough skin?

A moisturiser specially formulated for very dry, rough skin should be rich in the ingredients that skin needs to prevent moisture loss, bind in more water and strengthen its protective barrier. Left untreated, or treated with a product that doesn’t contain the appropriate ingredients, skin might dry out further and may crack.

Eucerin’s UreaRepair PLUS 10% Urea Lotion contains a high concentration of Urea and other NMFs (to bind water in to the skin) and Ceramide (to repair the skin barrier and reduce moisture loss). The formula gives immediate relief and carries on working, delaying the symptoms of very dry, rough skin for up to 48 hours.

Is Eucerin UreaRepair PLUS 10% Urea Lotion safe for children?

This product is recommended for adults and has not been tested for children. For babies and children with dry skin and Atopic Dermatitis we recommend Eucerin AtoControl. Most products in this range are suitable for babies over three months old.
