Atopic skin is irritable, dry and itchy. This itchiness induces scratching which gets in the way of a good night’s sleep and can have a negative impact on quality of life. Eucerin AtoControl Balm is a daily-use body balm specially formulated with deeply moisturising ingredients to soothe and intensely hydrate irritated and itchy skin. The light but nourishing oil-in-water balm is enriched with soothing Licochalcone A, Ceramides and Shea butter to repair and strengthen the skin’s barrier while relieving dryness and itching. It should also be used alongside Eucerin AtoControl Acute Care Cream and your usual medication during a flare-up. The balm for Atopic Eczema and Atopic Dermatitis provides instant moisture to make skin soft and smooth and, with regular application, skin condition and health noticeably improves. The fragrance-free balm has a light, pleasant texture that absorbs quickly and is non-greasy and non-sticky. Eucerin AtoControl Balm is dermatologically tested for dry, atopic skin. It is safe to use from day one for the fragile skin of newborns and babies. Due to the sensitive yet effective formula, it is also ideal for children and adults, hence a balm for the whole family that preserves the skin barrier and actively soothes itchy skin. Clinical Formula
Licochalcone A
Licochalcone A is a powerful antioxidant, anti-inflammatory and skin-soothing ingredient. It is derived from the root of the Chinese Licorice plant (Glycyrrhiza Inflata) which uses natural compounds to protect its cells from excessive sunlight. When used in skincare products, Licochalcone A works to reduce inflammation and neutralise free radicals that negatively influence skin cells and accelerate the ageing process. It helps to protect the deeper epidermal skin layers from sun-induced effects.
Ceramide 3
Ceramides are important lipids in the hydrolipid film (which protects the external layers of skin). Produced naturally in healthy skin, they strengthen the skin barrier, helping to prevent moisture loss due to evaporation and keeping out irritants that can cause inflammation and itching. When skin’s Ceramide levels fall the skin barrier is impaired. Skin can start to lose water and become dry and irritated.
Eucerin uses synthetic Ceramides that are biologically-identical and that enhance skin’s natural barrier – locking in moisture and preventing dryness and irritation.

FAQ
What is the difference between Eucerin AtopiControl Balm, Eucerin AtopiControl Lotion and Eucerin AtopiControl Cream?
The balm and the lotion are both ideal for use on atopic skin all over the body. They are both effective at soothing skin and supporting its natural barrier function. The choice of which product to use comes down to textural preference: the balm is an oil-in-water formulation and is lighter; the water-in-oil lotion is richer. Some people choose to use the lotion during the winter and the balm during the summer. The cream has a thicker texture and has been specially formulated for use on problem areas such as the elbows and knees.
Is Eucerin AtopiControl Balm suitable for use on children?
Yes, it is suitable for newborns as of day one.
What do you mean by a ‘flare-up’ and ‘the period between flare-ups’?
Broadly speaking, Atopic Dermatitis has two different phases. A ‘flare-up’ is one of the names used to describe the acute, active phase when skin is at its most irritable. It can feel intensely itchy, you may experience a burning sensation and skin can look red, dry and flaky. Between these acute, flare-up phases are periods of time when your skin is relatively calm and less irritated. This period is also known as the non-acute, non-active or interval phase. The length of each phase varies greatly depending on the individual, but products specially formulated to care for atopic skin − such as those in the Eucerin AtopiControl range − can help to extend the period between flare-ups and offer relief during acute flare-ups.
Is Atopic Dermatitis the same as Atopic Eczema?
Atopic Dermatitis and Atopic Eczema are collective terms for inflammatory changes to the skin and they include many different dermatological diseases. Atopic Dermatitis and Atopic Eczema are used to describe the same chronic inflammatory condition.
Do you have Atopic Dermatitis and are looking for an all over body moisturizer for daily use?
Eucerin AtopiControl Balm is a daily-use body balm that has been specially formulated to soothe and intensely moisturize irritated and itchy skin.
