DermoPurifyer Oil Control Scrub

Unclogs pores and refines skin texture

A scrub with Lactic Acid and pore-refining micro particles that unclogs pores, reduces blackheads and blemishes and refines skin texture.

Skin peel for blemish-prone skin

Eucerin DermoPurifyer Oil Control Scrub is an oil-free skin peel with Lactic Acid that removes impurities without drying out the skin. Suitable for face and body, the exfoliating action of natural micro particles works against dead skin cells − one of the key causes of blackheads and spots − and gently cleanses skin and removes make-up.

Pores are unclogged, impurities and blackheads are reduced and skin texture is visibly smooth and refined.

The product has been specially formulated for oily and blemish-prone skin which is not undergoing medication and can be used during pregnancy.

Clinical and dermatological studies

The product’s effectiveness was tested in a six-week study in Germany with a sample of 16 women and 4 men aged between 13 and 34 (average age 18.5 years).

The study confirmed:

  • That Eucerin DermoPurifyer Oil Control Scrub has a very positive effect on general skin condition.
  • That the scrub is very well tolerated by those with blemish- and acne-prone skin or those with mild acne comedonica.

Content Parts/Title FAQ

Does the product contain micro plastics?

Eucerin has made a significant step towards more environmentally-friendly products and does not use any microbeads made of polyethylene (PE). The cellulose particles that we use are a mixture of microcrystalline cellulose and silicon dioxide particles. These particles are gentle and skin-friendly and deliver the same results as less environmentally-friendly micro plastic alternatives.

Can I use the scrub while I’m undergoing medical treatment for blemished skin?

We do not recommend that you use the scrub while you are having medical treatment for blemished skin as medications such as Isotretinoin, Benzoyl Peroxide and Antibiotics all make your skin more sensitive. Use Eucerin DermoPurifyer Oil Control Cleansing Gel or Eucerin DermoPurifyer Oil Control Micellar Cleansing Water instead.

I’ve previously used the Eucerin Dermopure Scrub. What is the difference between that and Eucerin DermoPurifyer Oil Control Scrub?

We’ve changed the fragrance, the name and the packaging. The active ingredients in the formula remain the same.

Is blemished skin caused by poor hygiene?

No. There are a lot of myths surrounding the causes and triggers of blemished skin and poor hygiene is one of them. Blemish-prone skin is not a sign of poor hygiene. On the contrary, washing skin too frequently with aggressive cleansing products can irritate skin even more. We recommend that you cleanse your face twice a day using mild cleansers specially formulated for oily, blemish-prone skin and which clinically and dermatologically proven to remove excess sebum, sweat and dead skin cells without drying skin. It’s also important not to fiddle with your spots and to keep your hands away from your face.

Can I use Eucerin DermoPurifyer Oil Control Scrub alongside the Eucerin DermoPurifyer Oil Control Resurfacing Treatment?

Yes. You can use the Scrub once a week while using Eucerin DermoPurifyer Oil Control Resurfacing Treatment.

Can the pill help to prevent/heal blemished skin?

Blemished skin is associated with hormonal imbalances which can cause the sebaceous gland follicles to become more sensitive. For this reason, a contraceptive with an anti-androgen hormonal element can help. If you are in any doubt, consult your dermatologist or gynecologist.

Do I need to use Eucerin DermoPurifyer Oil Control Cleansing Gel before the Scrub?

No. Use Eucerin DermoPurifyer Oil Control Scrub instead of your usual cleanser but be sure to remove any eye make-up (try Eucerin DermoPurifyer Oil Control Micellar Cleansing Water) before using the scrub and be careful not to get the scrub in your eyes.

How often should I use Eucerin DermoPurifyer Oil Control Scrub?

We recommend you use the scrub once a week, instead of the Cleansing Gel. However, due to its mild formula the product is suitable for daily use so you can use it more frequently.

Will my blemishes clear up by themselves as I get older?

For many people, blemished skin clears after puberty but there are also people over 30 who are still suffering from blemished skin. If your skin condition doesn’t improve please consult a dermatologist.

Recommendations for your daily skincare routine

Gently massage acne peel into face

Cleanse skin in the morning and evening:

  • am: to remove the sebum and dead skin cells that have accumulated overnight
  • pm: to remove make-up and free skin from the day’s dirt

Use gentle cleansing products such as Eucerin DermoPURIFYER Oil Control Cleansing Gel with lukewarm water and follow with an appropriate toner. You may also benefit from using a scrub once a week to unclog pores and refine skin texture.

We do not recommend using an alcohol-based toner and the scrub alongside medication for blemished-prone skin as Isotretinoin, Benzoyl Peroxide and Antibiotics can make skin more sensitive. If you like the refreshing feel of a toner, try the alcohol-free Eucerin DermoPURIFYER Oil Control Micellar Cleansing Water instead.

Apply moisturizing fluid after using black head peel

The care product you use depends on the severity of your blemished skin and on the type of treatment you are undergoing.

If you are using medical treatment for bemished skin, Eucerin DermoPURIFYER Oil Control Adjunctive Soothing Cream helps to alleviate some of the symptoms such as intense dryness. It should be applied five minutes after your medication so the treatment can absorb fully.

If you have mild to moderate blemished skin, but are not undergoing medical treatment, use a soothing and mattifying moisturiser such as Eucerin DermoPURIFYER Oil Control Mattifying Fluid in the morning and evening.

For clearer and smoother-looking skin over time, you may also like to incorporate our skin renewal treatment into your routine. It is suitable for all blemish-prone skin that is not undergoing medical acne treatment and should be used once a day only − ideally in the evening. You can use it before the mattifying fluid or on its own.

Use sun protection

Sun protection is an important step in your morning routine. Blemishes can cause pigmentation issues if over-exposed to the sun, and medications for blemished skin can make blemish-prone skin even more sensitive to UV rays. Eucerin Sun Gel-Creme Oil Control Dry Touch SPF30 and SPF50+ offers the levels of protection that your skin needs and should be applied before your cover-up and make-up. If you’re applying sun protection after a topical treatment for blemished skin wait five minutes to allow the treatment to fully absorb.

Apply concealer before or after your make-up

Cover blemishes and even out skin tone with foundation and/or a concealer. Choose products that are non-comedogenic (i.e. that will not block pores) and, ideally, ones that contain ingredients that work to improve the condition of blemish-prone skin. Be sure to remove all make-up before you go to bed.

DermoPurifyer Oil Control Effective skin care products for blemish-prone skin

Acne is primarily an inflammatory disease. Inflammation is present at all stages of blemished skin − ranging from non-visible micro-inflammation to visibly inflamed papules and pustules 1

The Eucerin DermoPurifyer Oil Control range has been specially formulated to work against the main causes of blemish-prone skin:

micro-inflammation: the root cause of the acne cycle
excess sebum production which is also known as seborrhea
hyperkeratosis (a thickening of the external layers of skin) which then leads to blackheads and whiteheads
bacterial growth which leads to visible inflammation in the form of papules and pustules
The formulas include:

  •  Licochalcone A: a highly effective anti-inflammatory that soothes irritations and helps to reduce redness
  •  Salicylic Acid: an antibacterial ingredient with a comedolytic effect that reduces blemishes and prevents them from re-appearing
  •  Sebum-regulating technology: reduces sebum production

The DermoPurifyer Oil Control Resurfacing Treatment also contains:

10% Hydroxy Complex: a highly effective combination of peeling agents (Glycolic-, Salicylic- and Polyhydroxy Acids) that helps to resurface skin, unclog pores, reduce P. blemishes (bacteria) and remove dead skin cells
The range includes mild but effective cleansers and a selection of care products specially formulated for blemish-prone skin many of which are suitable for use alongside medical treatment for blemished skin.

Clinical and dermatological studies prove that the products are compatible with blemish-prone skin and very effective at treating and relieving symptoms
