In-depth knowledge of human skin
All of Eucerin´s dermo cosmetic skin care products are based on in-depth knowledge of the physiology of human skin. Only understanding how skin functions, together with how it reacts to the increasing effects that it is exposed to, ensures the development of advanced dermo cosmetic products is appropriate to its diverse requirements, whatever its specific needs may be. Finding effective and safe ingredients for the products, so that the health of skin is protected and sustained, is the basis of Eucerin´s systematic research.
Eucerin´s scientists are dealing with a layer that is approximately 0.1 mm thick – the epidermis, the visible layer of the skin. This delicate tissue is in a constant state of renewal and can show all kinds of problems. Skin is not just skin. We talk about different skin types that can, for example, be normal, dry, oily or combination. Yet external factors (diet, climate, exposure to sensitisers in cleansing agents, harsh solvents, or certain fragrances) or internal factors (hormones, emotional state, diseases) will affect the skin and may cause a problem. This is what makes each and every skin different and unique, with its own history or changing state. People behind the science
The Eucerin expertise is concentrated in Hamburg, located in the Beiersdorf headquarter. Beiersdorf opened an expanded international centre for research and development here. To learn from the skin, more than 500 Beiersdorf scientists are decoding the complex processes that occur in it.
They are learning to understand the metabolic processes that take place from the skin in its entirety as an organ down to individual skin cells and are developing efficient active ingredients – both those found in the skin and from other sources, to support the natural processes in the skin so that it stays looking healthy for longer.

Eucerin Skin Research is striving to find out about the specific triggers of skin problems and is constantly evaluating and finding effective ways to protect it.
