Cleansing Micellar Water for blemish-prone skin

Eucerin DermoPurifyer Oil Control Cleansing Micellar Water is a refreshing solution with APG Complex: an effective yet extra-mild make-up remover, cleanser and toner.

Alcohol-free, it gently but effectively removes all water-soluble eye and face make-up without irritating or disrupting skin’s natural moisture barrier. Quick and convenient to use, it helps prepare your skin for your topical treatment for blemished skin product or moisturiser and has been tested on, and proven to be compatible with, sensitive skin and eyes. Skin feels clean and soothed, is noticeably soft and supple and is well prepared for care products.

The Cleansing Micellar Water is suitable for use alongside medical treatments for blemished skin and during pregnancy.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is Eucerin DermoPurifyer Oil Control Cleansing Micellar Water suitable for removing eye make-up?

Yes. It has been clinically and opthalmologically tested and proven to be compatible with the sensitive skin around your eyes as well as with the eyes themselves. The eye contour area is particularly delicate and sensitive with a different pH level to facial skin. Eucerin DermoPurifyer Oil Control Micellar Cleansing Water respects this difference and has been formulated to pH 7.4 - the optimum pH for the eye area.

Eucerin DermoPurifyer Oil Control Micellar Cleansing Water will remove all water soluble eye make-up. For the effective removal of waterproof make-up, we recommend Eucerin DermatoClean Waterproof Eye Make-up Remover.

Do I really need to cleanse my skin in the morning and the evening?

Yes. Your skin works hard at renewing itself over night so, when you cleanse in the morning, you are removing sebum (the oily substance that your skin produces naturally to stop it drying out). At the end of the day you need to remove sebum, sweat and any make-up that you may have been wearing. Cleansing your skin also ensures that it is able to absorb the active ingredients in your care products.

What does Micellar mean?

Micelles are microscopic, spherical aggregates of surfactant molecules. Each surfactant molecule has a hydrophilic (water-loving) head that is attracted to water molecules and a hydrophobic (water-hating) tail that repels water and simultaneously attaches itself to the oil and grease in dirt. These opposing forces loosen dirt and suspend it in the water which is wiped away on the cotton pad. Micellar cleansers are used without water and are especially suitable for sensitive skin.

When should I use the DermoPurifyer Oil Control Micellar Cleansing Water and when should I use Eucerin DermoPurifyer Oil Control Toner?

Micellar water is a cleanser, toner and make-up remover all in one intended for use when you need a quick and convenient cleansing solution. Toner is applied after using a dedicated cleanser such as Eucerin DermoPurifyer Oil Control Cleansing Gel and prepares skin for moisturiser and other care products.

Eucerin DermoPurifyer Oil Control Toner is particularly suitable for oily and blemish-prone skin as it feels refreshing but, as it contains alcohol, we do not recommend that you use it during medical treatment for blemished skin. If you are undergoing medical treatment for blemished skin and enjoy using a toner, then use Eucerin DermoPurifyer Oil Control Micellar Cleansing Water to tone your skin after cleansing thoroughly with Eucerin DermoPurifyer Oil Control Cleansing Gel instead.

Recommendations for your daily skincare routine

Apply moisturizer after cleansing with micellar water

The care product you use depends on the severity of your blemishes and on the type of treatment you are undergoing.

If you are using medical treatment for blemished skin, Eucerin DermoPurifyer Oil Control Adjunctive Soothing Cream helps to alleviate some of the symptoms such as intense dryness. It should be applied five minutes after your medication so the treatment can absorb fully.

If you have mild to moderate blemishes, but are not undergoing medical acne treatment, use a soothing and mattifying moisturiser such as Eucerin DermoPurifyer Oil Control Mattifying Fluid in the morning and evening.

For clearer and smoother-looking skin over time, you may also like to incorporate our skin renewal treatment into your routine. It is suitable for all blemish-prone skin that is not undergoing medical treatment for blemished skin and should be used once a day only − ideally in the evening. You can use it before the mattifying fluid or on its own.

Cleanse your skin with micellar water for acne

Cleanse skin in the morning and evening:

  • am: to remove the sebum and dead skin cells that have accumulated overnight
  • pm: to remove make-up and free skin from the day’s dirt

Use gentle cleansing products such as Eucerin DermoPurifyer Oil Control Cleansing Gel with lukewarm water and follow with an appropriate toner or, for a quick and convenient solution, use Eucerin DermoPurifyer Oil Control Micellar Cleansing Water. You may also benefit from using a scrub once a week to unclog pores and refine skin texture.

We do not recommend using an alcohol-based toner and the scrub alongside medication for blemished skin as Isotretinoin, Benzoyl Peroxide and Antibiotics can make skin more sensitive. If you like the refreshing feel of a toner, try the alcohol-free Eucerin DermoPurifyer Oil Control Micellar Cleansing Water instead.

Apply concealer before or after your make-up

Cover blemishes and even out skin tone with foundation and/or a concealer. Choose products that are non-comedogenic (i.e. that will not block pores) and, ideally, ones that contain ingredients that work to improve the condition of blemish-prone skin. Be sure to remove all make-up before you go to bed.

Use sun protection

Sun protection is an important step in your morning routine. Blemishes can cause pigmentation issues if over-exposed to the sun, and medications for blemished skin can make blemish-prone skin even more sensitive to UV rays. Eucerin Sun Gel-Creme Oil Control Dry Touch SPF30 and SPF50+ offers the levels of protection that your skin needs and should be applied before your cover-up and make-up. If you’re applying sun protection after a topical treatment for blemished skin wait five minutes to allow the treatment to fully absorb.

DermoPurifyer Oil Control Effective skin care products for blemish-prone skin

Acne is primarily an inflammatory disease. Inflammation is present at all stages of blemished skin − ranging from non-visible micro-inflammation to visibly inflamed papules and pustules 1

The Eucerin DermoPurifyer Oil Control range has been specially formulated to work against the main causes of blemish-prone skin:

micro-inflammation: the root cause of the acne cycle
excess sebum production which is also known as seborrhea
hyperkeratosis (a thickening of the external layers of skin) which then leads to blackheads and whiteheads
bacterial growth which leads to visible inflammation in the form of papules and pustules
The formulas include:

  •  Licochalcone A: a highly effective anti-inflammatory that soothes irritations and helps to reduce redness
  •  Salicylic Acid: an antibacterial ingredient with a comedolytic effect that reduces blemishes and prevents them from re-appearing
  •  Sebum-regulating technology: reduces sebum production

The DermoPurifyer Oil Control Resurfacing Treatment also contains:

10% Hydroxy Complex: a highly effective combination of peeling agents (Glycolic-, Salicylic- and Polyhydroxy Acids) that helps to resurface skin, unclog pores, reduce P. blemishes (bacteria) and remove dead skin cells
The range includes mild but effective cleansers and a selection of care products specially formulated for blemish-prone skin many of which are suitable for use alongside medical treatment for blemished skin.

Clinical and dermatological studies prove that the products are compatible with blemish-prone skin and very effective at treating and relieving symptoms
