Clinical Formula

Hyaluronic acid

Hyaluronic Acid is formed by skin cells and is part of the connective tissue of the skin. One of its key functions is to retain moisture, and it has the ability to bind in between 1,000 and 10,000 times its own weight in water (i.e. one gram binds between one and ten liters). As we age, the skin's natural ability to produce Hyaluronic Acid depletes and wrinkles start to form and deepen.

Glyco-glycerol

Being a derivative of the skin’s own humectant glycerol, glyercyl glucosides facilitate epidermal moisturization. Dry, stressed skin shows significant reduced aquaporin channels. These channels control the transport of cellular water and other small solutes between and into cells. Thus, playing an important role in maintaining epidermal water balance. The most abundant aquaporin in the epidermis is aquaporin-3 (AQP3). Glucosylglycerol (Gluco-glycerol) stimulates the expression of AQP3 in epidermal skin cells and has been shown to stimulate the formation of aquaporin 3 (AQP3) in skin cells, thus increasing the number of aquaporins that control water transport in and out of cells.

APG Complex

APG Complex (short for Alkylpolyglucoside) is an extra mild cleanser. The `G` stands for Glucoside, which is a nature-derived surfactant. Surfactants are the active ingredients in cleansers that enable them to clean the skin by lifting and removing impurities. There are several different types of surfactant widely used in skin cleaning products. Anionic (negatively charged) surfactants are often used because of their great foaming properties, but Glucoside (which is non-ionic, with no charge) is proven to be particularly gentle on the skin.

FAQ

Is it safe to use Eucerin DermatoCLEAN 3 in 1 Micellar Cleansing Fluid to remove eye make-up?

Yes, it has been clinically and opthalmologically tested and proven to be compatible with eyes and with sensitive skin.
The eye contour area is particularly delicate and sensitive, with a different pH level to facial skin.
Eucerin DermatoCLEAN 3 in 1 Micellar Cleansing Fluid respects this difference and has been formulated to pH 7.4 – the optimum pH for the eye area.
Eucerin DermatoCLEAN 3 in 1 Micellar Cleansing Fluid will remove all water soluble eye make-up. It will not remove water resistant make-up such as waterproof mascara.  For the effective removal of waterproof make-up, we recommend Eucerin DermatoCLEAN Waterproof Eye Make-up Remover.

Do I really need to cleanse in the morning and evening?

Yes. Your skin works hard at renewing itself over night so, when you cleanse in the morning, you are removing sebum (the oily substance that your skin produces naturally to stop it drying out). At the end of the day you need to remove sebum, sweat and any make-up that you may have been wearing. It is scientifically proven that a cleansed skin is better able to breathe. Cleansing your skin also ensures that it is able to absorb the active ingredients in your care products.

What does Micellar mean?

Micelles are  small, ball-shaped microscopic aggregates of surfactant molecules with a strongly polar (hydrophilic) "head" and a non-polar (hydrophobic) hydrocarbon chain "tail". Micellar cleansers can be used without water and are especially suitable for sensitive skin.

    Gentle hydrating clean
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Eucerin Gentle Cleansing Hydrating Micellar Water is a great makeup remover with a soft touch. The scent is light, the sensation cooling, and it's so easy to use. My skin felt refreshed and I hardly had to scrub to get my eyeliner off. I received a free sample in exchange for my honest review.
